| Description: | “Fleur and Michael Mont entertain the glittering society characters of the day in their new, elegant, and fashionable house. As always, Fleur’s father—Soames Forsyte—is constantly by the side of his daughter, spoiling and watching over her. But London after the war is a place of carefree attitudes that are alarming and baffling to old Soames. Just when he thinks he is protecting his daughter, he finds himself triggering a major social scandal.” | ||||||

John Galsworthy:
(1867-1933),he was at the height of his popularity with the reading public, and had been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1932. Already derided by modernist writers like Woolf and Lawrence for his old-fashioned values, interest in his works fell away sharply. The revival came in 1967, when the BBC Television adaptation of ‘The Forsyte Saga’ firmly established his place in literary history once more.
